James is an experienced senior leader with over a decade at the heart of energy at National Grid / ESO. He has been in the software industry for 25 years, having delivered agile developments and building teams in the Energy, Automotive, HR and Media Industries. He currently heads a team of 85 people with responsibility for all Flui’s R&D. He has worked in Development, Product, Innovation and SLT roles with extensive people experience including working in India for a brief period in the late 00s.​

James headed the ESO Labs team that implemented the first AI into the National Grid Control Centre, has won numerous innovation awards for work on CNI systems, was on the AI advisory group for the CBI & FES editorial board as well as broadcasting about energy decarbonisation from COP26, Social Channels and National Radio with a stint in Corporate Affairs.​

James strongly believes in a team-focussed positive culture to drive excellence and creativity at work.​

Outside of work, James is a father, holds two degrees in classical music, is a Private Pilot and an EV/home automation enthusiast.​
